  • ‘I have worked with Stephen since 2003 on a number of complex projects. My experience confirms that of his many strengths, those of dedication to detail, total commitment to identifying and solving all issues, complete reliability, unimpeachable honesty and absolute integrity mark Stephen out in the activity of project management as unsurpassed — not only from the critical perspective of the client, but also from that of the project team members. That respect and authority is matched by the very high regard in which Stephen is held by the regulatory authorities on whom the ultimate success of any project depends… an extremely rare combination of skills that is the signature of the highest calibre of professionalism.’

  • The discussion the judges had with Stephen Friel, representing the developers, was particularly revealing: here was a true ‘pro’ who knew the issues of housing and development fully, a tough client who nevertheless had built up a good relationship with the architects. Together they produced a knowing and urbane piece of city. Within the parameters of a commercial development, this project should be seen as a marker for elegant design and town-making.

Tony Piggott BSc MRICS

Tony is an experienced property developer with specialist skills in the affordable housing sector. He has a trade background and is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, working within construction and development. Tony’s experience includes working for the London and Quadrant Housing Group in regeneration, and as a shareholder and director within the private sector. He has delivered mixed-use residential projects, and commercial developments in excess of £80 millionin GDV, student accommodation and high density affordable housing in urban locations.

  • The Tranton Road site had, prior to Tony’s involvement, failed to secure planning approval at committee and at a planning appeal. Tony has a ‘can do’ attitude and I was hugely impressed with the energy and focus that he demonstrated throughout the planning process. He worked with us and the local community and showed a total understanding and respect for the involvement of the community in the planning process. I look forward to working with iPro to unlock other challenging opportunities.

  • Tony is one of the few developers that has an in-depth understanding of the objectives of the affordable housing sector, he recognizes that a transaction has to work and benefit all parties. The approach taken on Tranton Road was based upon intelligent lateral thinking and collaboration. This resulted in a successful outcome and the willingness to repeat the process in the future.
